The Arvada Western Railroad is a proto-freelanced model railroad set in an alternate timeline where much of the original narrow gauge network in Colorado survived and remains in operation today as the Arvada Western Railroad. Rooted in historical inspiration, this fictional railroad explores a “what-if” scenario that blends realism with creative storytelling.
The concept originated during the COVID-19 pandemic as a personal project to reimagine the legacy of the Colorado & Southern. It began with the creation of Sur Rail, a proto-freelanced leasing locomotive company, and gradually expanded into a full fledged railroad concept. Drawing influence from iconic proto-freelanced railroads such as the Utah Belt, the Arvada Western represents both a tribute to railroad history and a platform for continuing the rich narrow gauge.
